Installation of pneumatic pu hose tubing into Push-in Fittings – Key Points

The most critical aspects are: cut the tube straight and cleanly, insert it fully to the bottom, and leave sufficient length. These three points directly determine whether the system will leak or the tube will suddenly disconnect.

1. Cutting – Straight and Clean is the Foundation

Always use a dedicated tube cutter for PU tubing. Do not use pliers, scissors, or other tools, as they can cause an angled cut or deform the tube end, preventing a proper seal.

Ensure the cut end is perpendicular and smooth, with no scratches or oval deformation on the outer wall.

After cutting, remove any burrs or debris from both the inside and outside of the tube end to avoid damaging the sealing ring inside the fitting.

2. Inserting – Push All the Way In, Then Pull to Check

Insert the tube vertically and slowly into the fitting until you feel it bottom out and cannot push further. Many leakage issues are caused by not inserting the tube deep enough.

As a good practice, mark the estimated insertion depth on the tube before inserting. After insertion, check if the mark is correctly positioned for easy future inspection.

After insertion, gently pull back on the tube to confirm that the internal gripping ring has securely locked it in place and it will not detach.

3. Routing and Installation – Leave Slack and Avoid Stress

Leave sufficient length allowance in the tubing layout to avoid excessive bending, twisting, or tensile stress at the fitting root. This is a major cause of seal failure and tube detachment.

If bending is required, ensure the bend radius is larger than the minimum allowable bending radius to avoid damaging the tube at the bend point.

If the fitting has threads, tighten it with moderate force. Use a wrench for final tightening if necessary, but over-tightening may damage the threads or the sealing ring.

4. Disassembly and Reuse – Proceed with Caution

Before removing the pneumatic pu hose tubing, always ensure the compressed air in the system has been fully vented (pressure at zero). Otherwise, the tube or fitting could eject at high speed and cause injury.

When disconnecting, press the release ring (Release Button/Collar) evenly and all the way down, then pull out the tube. If the ring is not pressed sufficiently, forcing the tube out may damage its outer wall.

The section of tube that was gripped by the claws will have surface damage. If reusing the tube, cut off the damaged portion and make a fresh cut before reinserting; otherwise, poor sealing and air leakage are very likely to occur.
