To extend the service life of a clear 1/2 inch PU air hose, the key is to avoid its main vulnerabilities: overpressure, high temperatures, chemical corrosion, and improper storage. Pay attention to the following three areas-use, maintenance, and storage:

1. Key points during use

Strictly observe pressure and temperature limits: Make sure the system pressure does not exceed the hose's working pressure-overpressure poses a burst risk. At the same time, the operating temperature range for PU air hoses is typically –20°C to 40°C. Avoid using the hose in environments that are too hot or too cold.

Keep away from chemical corrosives: PU material is not resistant to strong acids, alkalis, or solvents. Prevent the hose from coming into contact with such corrosive liquids or gases.

Pay attention to the bend radius: Avoid sharp bends during use, especially near fittings. It is best to keep the bend angle under 30° to prevent kinking or internal damage. Refer to the manufacturer's specified minimum bend radius as a guideline.

Inspect regularly: Before each use, check the hose wall for bubbles, black spots, particles, or "wax blooming" (a sticky surface with dull, cloudy discoloration). These are signs of aging-if any are found, replace the hose immediately.

2. Maintenance and storage tips

Handle with care to prevent cuts: Although PU hoses are abrasion-resistant, avoid dragging them over sharp objects to prevent accidental punctures.

Manage the "shape memory" issue: Clear 1/2 inch PU air hoses has a "memory effect" and tend to stay coiled. Using a reel for storage helps prevent internal damage and tangling caused by repeated twisting and kinking.

Store in a cool, dry place: Moisture and sunlight are major enemies of PU materials. Prolonged exposure to humidity can cause hydrolysis and cracking, while UV exposure accelerates aging. Therefore, always store the hose in a cool, well-ventilated, and dark place.
