Typical industrial/commercial environments: In factories, warehouses, or 24-hour supermarkets with frequent use and complex conditions, service life is usually around 2–3 years, with some heavy-duty applications reaching 3–5 years.

Harsh operating conditions: In demanding scenarios such as textile machinery with extreme usage frequencies or poor environments, some product cases show a service life of approximately 18 months.

2. Key Factors Affecting Service Life

Understanding these factors helps extend black polyurethane caster wheels life:

Overloading and abuse – This is the primary cause of premature caster failure. Exceeding the rated load can deform the bracket, overstress the tread, and cause the polyurethane layer to crack or detach.

Operating environment – Use on potholed, gravel, or rough surfaces dramatically increases impact and wear.

Temperature and humidity – PU materials are temperature-sensitive; prolonged exposure above 80°C accelerates aging. Standard PU may undergo "hydrolysis" in humid conditions, leading to cracking – hydrolysis-resistant formulations are recommended.

Therefore, PU wheels are better suited for equipment that is moved frequently.

3. Bracket Condition and Maintenance

Bracket deformation – Even if the wheel itself is intact, a deformed bracket caused by impact or overloading can lead to uneven tire wear or poor rotation.

Lack of lubrication – Insufficient lubrication in bearings and axle pins increases friction and accelerates wear. Regular greasing every 6 months is recommended.

Debris entanglement – Threads, ropes, or other debris wrapped around the axle can hinder rotation and should be cleaned regularly.
