Precautions for storage of polyurethane wheels yellow
1) Avoid direct sunlight
Ultraviolet radiation is one of the main culprits of polyurethane material aging, which can cause the material to become brittle, crack, turn yellow (even if it is originally yellow, it may darken or become dull), and reduce its physical properties.
Measure: Store the polyurethane wheels yellow in a cool, dark place, preferably covered with original packaging or opaque containers/bags. Avoid storing by windows or outdoors.
2) Control temperature and humidity:
Temperature: The ideal storage temperature is usually between 15 ° C and 25 ° C. Avoid storing in extremely high temperature environments (such as attic rooms or boiler rooms above 40 ° C) or extremely low temperature environments (such as freezers). High temperatures can accelerate aging, while extremely low temperatures may temporarily make materials brittle.
3) Humidity: Keep the environment dry and avoid dampness. High humidity environments may cause hydrolysis reactions in certain types of polyurethanes, especially polyester types, which can damage the molecular structure and cause the wheels to become soft, sticky, experience a sharp decrease in strength, or even disintegrate. Polyether type has relatively better hydrolysis resistance, but still needs to be moisture-proof.
Measure: Choose a dry and well ventilated warehouse or storage room for storage. Avoid placing it in damp areas such as basements and bathrooms. Desiccant can be used.
4) Avoid contact with chemicals and solvents:
Polyurethane is sensitive to many chemicals such as strong acids, strong bases, organic solvents, oils, and ozone, and may cause swelling, softening, cracking, or loss of strength upon contact.
Measures: Keep away from paint, diluents, cleaning agents, oil stains, acidic and alkaline substances, etc. The storage area should be clean.
5) Avoid long-term compression or deformation during storage:
Long term exposure to heavy pressure or unnatural shapes (such as stacking too high or single point suspension) may cause permanent deformation (plastic deformation) of the wheels, resulting in loss of roundness or elasticity.
Measure: It is ideal to place the wheels flat on a flat shelf or floor.
If stacking is necessary, the height should not be too high to avoid excessive pressure on the bottom wheels.
Absolutely avoid hanging wheels with sharp objects or subjecting them to single point force.
6) Keep clean and prevent contamination:
Long term adhesion of dust and dirt may affect performance, and certain pollutants may also react with materials.
Measure: Keep the storage environment clean, and the wheels themselves should also be stored after being cleaned and dried. You can cover it with a clean cloth or plastic film to prevent dust.
