Producing high-performance oil resistant PU wheels starts with the right raw materials. The core requirement is to select a suitable polyol system combined with specific isocyanates and curing agents, ensuring the wheel delivers both excellent wear resistance and reliable oil resistance.

1. Core raw material requirements

Oil resistance is mainly determined by the chemical structure of the soft segment in the polyurethane molecule.

Polyol selection (key to oil resistance):

Polyester polyols, with their highly polar molecular structure, offer superior resistance to non-polar oils. Polyether polyols generally provide better hydrolysis resistance but weaker oil resistance. Therefore, oil resistant PU wheels tend to use polyester polyols or hybrid systems to achieve balanced performance.

Isocyanate selection:

Common options include MDI or NDI. NDI systems deliver higher dynamic load capacity and lower internal heat generation, making them ideal for heavy-duty or high-speed rolling applications.

Curing agents & additives:

MOCA or bifunctional secondary amine curing agents are commonly used. Nano metal oxides are sometimes added to improve thermal conductivity and reduce internal heat buildup during rolling.
