1. Key Performance Requirements

The performance of a PU trolley wheel depends mainly on two things: wheel material and bearing quality.

Material & Core: Industry standards require polyurethane elastomer resilience to be above 50%. To prevent heat expansion under high-frequency operation, metal wheel cores are strongly recommended over plastic cores.

Hardness: PU sits between rubber and plastic. For general industrial use, a hardness of ≥92A (Shore A) is recommended. For applications requiring maximum quietness and floor protection (e.g., food, medical), softer formulas around 75A are preferred.

Bearings: PU wheels with precision ball bearings offer the smoothest rotation, lowest starting resistance, and reduced friction noise.

2. Precautions during use the polyurethane trolley wheel

Although PU wheels are highly wear-resistant, their physical properties mean they "fear cuts, soaking, and overloading."

① Never overload or load unevenly

This is the leading cause of PU wheel failure-such as debonding, deformation, and cracking. Ensure the total weight (equipment + cargo) is evenly distributed across all wheels, and calculate with the appropriate safety factor.

② Avoid harsh environments

Although PU has relatively good oil resistance, it must be kept away from strong acids, strong alkalis, and organic solvents (e.g., acetone, toluene), which can cause swelling, cracking, or stickiness. Also avoid prolonged use in high-temperature environments, as the material may soften and deform.

③ Avoid rough handling and sharp objects

PU wheels are tough but have lower tear resistance than rubber. Never tow mechanically or hit obstacles (like thresholds) at high speed-this easily causes chunking on the wheel surface. Avoid use on floors littered with nails or glass shards, which can scratch the tread.

④ Regular inspection & cleaning

Cleaning: Periodically remove dust and debris from the axle and tread with a soft brush. For oil stains, wipe with mild soapy water-never use strong solvents.

Lubrication: For PU wheels with bearings, add lithium-based grease every 3–6 months. Avoid regular machine oil, which attracts dust.

Replacement: Replace the wheel if tread wear exceeds 30% of original thickness, or if deep cracks, surface hardening, or stickiness appear.
