To ensure the long service life and safe operation of PU elastomer wheels, the key principles are avoiding overload, paying attention to environmental conditions, and conducting regular inspections.

1.Avoiding Overload and Proper Operation

This is the most important principle for protecting PU wheels, as it directly affects their lifespan and equipment safety.

Always verify that the load is within the rated capacity of each individual wheel/caster before use. Overloading will rapidly accelerate fatigue aging of the polyurethane, leading to cracking, deformation, or even detachment of the rubber from the wheel core.

The rated load capacity of PU wheels is usually inversely proportional to speed. High-speed operation generates significant heat, which can degrade PU material performance.

Mechanical towing is strictly prohibited unless the product is specifically designed for it. Do not use forklifts or other equipment to drag devices fitted with standard PU wheels, as the immense axial forces can instantly damage the wheels.

Avoid dropping wheels from heights or impacting them against steps or sharp objects, as this may cause chipping or peeling of the PU rubber.

Do not force movement while the brake is engaged, as this can easily damage both the brake mechanism and the wheels.

2.PU material, though durable, is sensitive to certain environmental conditions.

PU elastomer wheels generally have good oil resistance, but contact with strong acids, strong alkalis, esters, ketones, and similar chemicals should be avoided, as these substances can degrade the PU material.

Some PU materials are not resistant to hydrolysis. Prolonged use in high-temperature hot water or high-humidity hot air environments should be avoided, as such conditions can deteriorate material performance. If the environment is humid, it is recommended to choose materials labeled as "hydrolysis-resistant."

PU wheels typically have a recommended operating temperature range (approximately –20°C to +40°C). Excessive temperatures may cause the material to soften, while extremely low temperatures may make it brittle.

Whenever possible, use the wheels on flat surfaces and avoid using them on uneven or rough terrain, as this can accelerate tread wear.
